The Duntroon Toponymy
A sequence of poems linking two calendars: the one posted out every year to the countries of the Scottish diaspora, the other a showcase for glossy shots of New Zealand. The place names of each calendar are the same but their meanings and the layers of history they have overwritten are different.
Publisher: Mariscat Press (2001)
“The measured twenty-line poems beguile us with landscape, mythology, search for identity, history, meaning;”
“These are complex poems, rigorous in their demands on the reader, but the language and the meticulous craft make a growing acquaintance with them an increasing delight.”– Anne Macleod, NorthWords
